in the world of DC Comics there are many heroes who have become a sources of inspiration. But one, in particular, shines above the rest. A hero who embodies the essence of hope. That hero is Superman.
Superman has followed several mantras over the decades, but all have involved variations on truth and justice as central to the iconic superhero's identity.
In the 1940's the saying Truth, Justice and the American Way which originated with a Superman radio serial in the early 1940s, as a way to cheer on American military efforts in World War II continued to be identified with Superman in the Adventures of Superman TV series during the early days of the Cold War with Russia and the height of McCarthyism paranoia.
By the 1960's the motto had evolved to truth, justice and freedom as heard on a kids cartoon series entitled The New Adventures of Superman.
More recently in DC Comics' "Batman/Superman #16 Truth, Tolerance and Justice held sway.
In 2021 DC announced that the Man of Steel's motto going forward would be Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow.
